Barn M
About This Home
Baufritz has been building ecological timber homes since 1896, and the Barn M is one of their most architecturally distinctive models. The steep-pitched roof and vertical timber cladding directly reference agricultural barn architecture, and the connection is intentional rather than decorative. High ceilings and open-plan layouts are a direct consequence of the barn structure, giving the interior scale and character that conventional two-storey layouts don't produce.
Construction uses Baufritz's patented wood shaving insulation and triple-glazed windows throughout, alongside allergy-friendly, chemical-free materials. The triple glazing delivers both thermal and acoustic performance above the standard double-glazed specification. Covered outdoor areas are integrated into the design, reinforcing the agricultural reference while providing practical weather protection.
The Barn M is best suited to buyers with rural or semi-rural plots where the barn form sits naturally in the landscape, and who want an interior with genuine volume and character. At 174 m° with seven bedrooms, the scale is substantial. Interior configurations and finishes are customisable. German engineering standards apply, with UK compliance confirmed project by project.
What We Love
The Barn M's steep-pitched roof and vertical timber cladding produce genuinely high ceilings and open-plan volume that few prefab designs can match: the agricultural reference creates real spatial quality, not just an exterior treatment.
