Musterhaus Lichtblick
About This Home
Baufritz has been manufacturing timber homes in Bavaria since 1896, and the Musterhaus Lichtblick, which translates as 'show home: ray of light', was designed and built as an exhibition property to demonstrate what considered light architecture looks like in practice. Strategic window placement and open floor plans ensure every room benefits from daylight throughout the day, which is a harder thing to engineer well than it sounds.
The construction uses Baufritz's ecological timber frame with sustainable materials, and the home integrates energy-efficient heating, advanced lighting technology, and modern ventilation. Expansive glazed sections and a facade with large glazed areas maximise natural light while the smart automation systems manage energy consumption. The three bathrooms for three bedrooms is a generous provision at this floor area.
At just under 86 m², the Musterhaus Lichtblick is a compact but well-considered design with genuine architectural intent behind it.
What We Love
The Musterhaus Lichtblick was built as a demonstration of light-optimised architecture, and the strategic window placement shows in practice. It is one of the most deliberately thought-through designs in the Baufritz catalogue.
