Schauer
About This Home
Baufritz has been manufacturing ecological timber homes in Bavaria since 1896, and the Schauer is one of their more overtly alpine-influenced designs. The two-storey layout draws on chalet proportions while the glazing strategy brings it firmly into contemporary territory: floor-to-ceiling windows are used extensively, and most rooms open directly to outdoor spaces. That connection to the outside is a genuine design priority here, not just a brochure line.
The Schauer is built on an ecological timber frame with Baufritz's proprietary wood shaving insulation throughout. An electromagnetic shielding system is also integrated into the structure, addressing low-frequency radiation concerns in the building envelope. This is a Baufritz signature that goes beyond the usual sustainable building checklist.
At 140 m² across multiple levels, the layout works well for a family that wants generous natural light, direct garden or terrace access from multiple rooms, and a healthier indoor environment. Interior configurations and finishes are customisable. German engineering standards apply, with UK compliance confirmed project by project.
What We Love
The integrated electromagnetic shielding system sets the Schauer apart from most timber frame homes: it's a level of health-conscious construction detail that very few manufacturers offer at all.
