The TimberCab 621 is FabCab's smallest pre-designed layout, offering one bedroom and one bathroom across 621 square feet. The shell combines a custom Douglas fir timber frame with SIP panels for structural performance and insulation in a single panelized package assembled on site. Clients work with FabCab's architecture team to modify the layout and select finishes before the permit-ready shell materials are delivered.
What We Love
A timber frame home at 621 sq ft is unusual: the joinery demands a larger budget to justify. The CNC-milled Douglas fir mortise-and-tenon structure is the same whether the shell is this small or three times the size, so the craftsmanship-to-footprint ratio is hard to match.
Construction
Build System Panelized SIP wall and roof panels with custom Douglas fir timber frame (mortise-and-tenon joinery, CNC-milled), site assembled by a local general contractor
Roof Type Standing seam metal roof with field-crimped concealed-fastener system
Exterior Finish Fiber-cement siding and panels as standard; cedar, Shou Sugi Ban and thermally modified wood available as alternatives
Energy and Sustainability
Sustainable Materials Douglas fir solid-sawn timber frame; SIP panels with high insulation performance exceeding building code energy requirements
